Assistant Professional?
Medical office assistants
are categorized as front and back office.
Front office assistants perform primarily administrative
tasks. Duties include greeting patients, scheduling appointments,
maintaining patient records, billing and coding for insurance
purposes, and arranging for hospital admission and laboratory
services. Back office
assistants handle the clinical aspects such as taking medical
histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patient for exam.
The MOAP program focuses on the front office.
Career Outlook
Medical Assistants is
expected to be one of the fastest growing occupations through the
year 2010.
Employment growth will be
driven by the increase in number of group practices, clinics and
other healthcare facilities that need a high proportion of support
personnel.

mean hourly wage for Medical Office Assistants was $11.46.

Students enrolled in the
MOAP program are eligible for career development assistance.
Students will be provided a Job Placement manual and
assistance with the following:

Use of the Internet to find suitable jobs

Developing a resume format that includes your strengths
and assets, work experience, education, and other relevant
information
